#277: A Marriage of Two Best Friends
Let me tell you the story of those who were best friends, and then all of a sudden they got married.
At that time, I thought it couldn’t have been any other way, that must have been expected. It must have been a prayer they both have secretly prayed, specially her. She must have been wishing and praying hard for such a dream to come true. And eventually it did! At that time, I thought that it’s true that dreams do come true, that prayers are answered, and miracles do happen; they just don’t happen to me!! That gave me hope, yet that was just a false hope.
It hit me today, like a fireball, that maybe she didn’t, or they didn’t, dream about it like I thought she did. Maybe she never prayed that prayer, and maybe she never really considered it a miracle. She only cared about being a good friend, she only cared for what she had in her hands, nothing more, she didn’t expect, nor desired, something that is beyond her abilities to catch.
And that made me wonder, how could I ever await for a miracle, or expect one actually! Isn’t a part of defining a miracle is that it comes unexpectedly, that it is beyond our imaginations?!
Maybe the best things that happen to us are not the things that we plan for, but rather the things that are unexpected. Miracles do happen, even to me, but I could never know it before it does actually happen, I could never expect it, wish for it, or dream about it. Well, I mean, it is okay to have wishes and dreams, just don’t cling too much on them, don’t plan your life based on a wish or a dream, don’t wait for them coming true.
